Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy is a visionary force in the world of dance and the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of Boy Blue, a pioneering company and Artistic Associate of the Barbican, London. Renowned as one of the most influential choreographers of his generation, Sandy has redefined the boundaries of hip-hop dance through his groundbreaking works, including the Olivier Award-winning Pied Piper: A Hip-Hop Dance Revolution (2006), the powerful Blak Whyte Gray (2017), REDD (2019), and the highly acclaimed CYCLES (2024).
Sandy’s artistry transcends the stage; his collaboration with director Danny Boyle for the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony won the Evening Standard’s Beyond Theatre award, a testament to his innovative approach. In 2023, he choreographed the spectacular Free Your Mind at Manchester’s Aviva Studios, further showcasing the power of hip-hop as a compelling storytelling medium. Further Theatre work includes Play On (2024) and Guys and Dolls (2017) for Talawa, Once On This Island for Regent’s Park OpenAir Theatre (2023).
His impressive screen credits include T2 TrainspottingStreet Dance 3D, and high-profile events like the BAFTAs, MOBO Awards, and Brit Awards. Sandy has also choreographed for artists such as FKA twigs, Rita Ora, and brands like Nike and adidas. Recognised with an MBE in 2017 for his exceptional contributions to dance and the community, he is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of talent, inspiring students to discover their unique voices and become some of the UK’s top street dancers.
